Messege from Cambridge International Coolege- Melbourne

Good Afternoon! This is Andy Ellen from Cambridge
International College in Melbourne. Happy New Year to you,
your staff and families. I hope you are well and starting to
come to terms with the horrific effects of the Tsunami. Our
thoughts are with the people of Thailand.

I also heard about the accident on the new subway in
Bangkok. I hope that neither you nor your family or friends
were on the train or injured. My thoughts are with you.

I am writing a short email to let you know about some of the
activities planned for January and February in Melbourne at
our school and hopefully this information is useful for you
to give to students who may be thinking of coming to or
staying in the hottest city in Australia, Melbourne, during
the next 6 weeks!

Last Friday I took 58 students on an afternoon excursion to
the Australian Tennis Centre to watch the qualifying
tournament for the present Australian Tennis Open, which has
been on Channel 7 all week long from morning until midnight.
We also watched a number of qualifiers, one of whom,
Garcia-Lopez went on to beat the Number 5 seed Carlos Moya
on Monday. He looked a little surprised when a group of our
students started to urge him on in Spanish! We also saw
Takao Suzuki win to qualify and then to play Roger Federer
where he played a great game to lose only narrowly two
nights ago.

A great day was had by all as the attached photos will
hopefully illustrate. Other activities are shown on
www.cambridgecollege.com.au/agents our photo gallery of
activities and school building and staff

On Australia Day, next week, Weds 26th January we will
organise with the Melbourne university students from our
twice-weekly Conversation Club, a traditional Australian Day
BBQ on the banks of the Yarra River.

organising two day long excursions to the Dandenongs and
Puffing Billy Train trip witha visit to the local Winery,
and another trip to the Great Ocean Road.

At the beginning of March, Thursday 3rd, we will take
students on a free trip to the Australian Grand Prix at
Albert Park Melbourne to give students a taste and smell of
the Grand Prix experience.

These activities are on top of the activities organised by
our Melbourne University friends who regularly take CIC
international students to the Night Market, St Kilda Beach,
Brunswick Street and all the regular Festivals that take
place in Melbourne this time of year
