NEVER leave the toddler alone on a changing table, bed, couch or other furniture.
ALWAYS strap the toddler in a high chair, booster seat or stroller.
DON’T leave the toddler alone in a shopping cart for even a minute. Make sure she’s always strapped in.
ALWAYS strap the toddler into a forward-g=facing car seat in the back seat of a car. NEVER, ever make an exception.
DON’T let the toddler pet strange dogs, and don’t leave a toddler alone with the family pet, even a friendly one. The most sweet-tempered dog can bite when a toddler tries to chase it or playfully pulls its tail.
Keep a watchful eye on a toddler with a balloon. If it pops, make sure there are no pieces left on the floor. A toddler can choke on them.
NEVER let a toddler play on or near stairs.
DON’T let a toddler walk and eat at the same time.
NEVER let a toddler walk alone across a street, even in a safe neighborhood and even on a street that has few cars.
KEEP an eye on the toddler at all times while he’s awake. Toddlers have the skills ( climbing, opening cabinets, pilling up books to reach something dangerous) and curiosity to get into all kinds of trouble. |
